farrer music encouragement award

The Farrer Music Encouragement Award was established in 2012 to encourage the extra-curricular study of music amongst students attending Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School in Tamworth, NSW, Australia. This award is designed to foster the continued study of music both through the school curriculum and privately. This award aims to emphasize the importance of music in a complete and well-rounded education.

Each year, a student in year 7 or 8 will receive $500 towards their study of an instrument or voice, with preference placed on the study of classical technique. The funds are distributed by the school to pay for private tuition on the student's chosen instrument or voice. The funds can also be directed toward the purchase or rental of a new instrument if need be.

As of 2013, a second award of $500 was introduced and is open to students in year 9 or 10 under the same guidelines as above. Students are eligible to win each prize only once.
